The U10s travelled to Ashbourne today, and although the ice had gone, a windy mudfest awaited!
Dronfield took and early lead with great solo efforts from Will & Charlie, but Ashbourne soon got their big balls carriers into the game who were difficult to stop at times.
Handling was very slick from both teams on such a windy day, but Dronfield were able to capitalise on good turnovers and interplay to extend their lead with tries from Abel, Will & Charlie.
Ashbournes big runners continued to make ground, but there was a monstrous defensive shift put in, with Tom, Charlie, Alex, Oli & George all putting some superb tackles in.
Abel & Tom showed their strength in close ripping balls out of opponents' hands and feeding it wide where Edwin, Henry, Eddie, Alex & Will were all attacking at pace and making breaks.
In only his 2nd game, Oli made one of the plays of the match, ripping the ball away from his opposite number and running the length for an outstanding solo try.
Dronfield emerged victorious, scoring 16 - 8 with tries from:
Charlie - 5
Abel - 4
Will - 4
Alex - 2
Oli - 1
Player awards went to:
Charlie - stood in at scrum half, tackled everything that moved, and ran in 5.
Will - great stepping and pace as always in attack and was keen to get over the ball in defence and make steals and slow down opposition ball.
Tom - led the defencive line with gusto, putting in big hits at every re-start and terrorising the opposition break down.
