A very blustery morning at Lodge Lane, but that didn't stop some ambitious and energetic rugby.
The boys started slowly, with several mistakes in the first few minutes allowing Dinnington to run in 3 unanswered tries, unopposed.
After the first break, the squad resumed their usual standard, dominating the tackle area and using width well to make several breaks resulting in two very well worked tries.
With their tails up, Dronfield went on to win the 3rd quarter as well, linking brilliantly on several occasions to score in the wider channels.
The period of the match which impressed us most however, was the goal line defensive effort. On 3 occasions, Dronfield were pinned on their goal line through penalties, but went on to hold out and drive Dinnington back and releive pressure.
Unfortunately, with the final play of the match, Dinnington scored another breakaway to seal the win (or draw?). Some very impressive play today, where the boys implemented the new screen play and organised their 'punch' from set play.
Players of the match
Isaac: defensively very impressive on the edge. Completed several 1 on 1 tackles to halt Dinnington attacks. A very safe pair of hands.
Kasper: exactly what we wanted from him on both sides of the ball. Full of energy and brought the physical edge needed to create holes and tie players in. Plenty of breaks and dominating carries. A handful for our opposition.
George: set the standard today. Physical, energetic, clinical and a good leader. Body on the line as always and a huge impact on everything good about our play.
Well done all
