Another excellent victory for our U13’s hosting Ashbourne in our final NLD Cup group game this morning. A tough start playing against the wind and up the slope, Dronfield were penalised for a number of knock-ons and found the scrum a challenge against a driven Ashbourne pack. Quick ball from our visitors freed their pace out wide to run tries in, however Dronfield stayed in the game by responding each time, finishing the first half level. The second half played out differently, with the wind behind us and playing down the slope Dronfield pinned Ashbourne in their own half and piled the pressure on. Determined ball carrying and mauling by our forwards took us time and again to Ashbourne’s try line, where without a number of missed scoring opportunities could have resulted in a more emphatic result than the final 40-20 score. Three wins out of three in our group, onwards and upwards. Player of the day goes to Evan for displaying great work in the front row, tackling technique and a superb try finish
