Another brilliant game of rugby this morning with our U13’s hosting Rotherham Phoenix at Gosforth Fields. Running out 45-20 victors over our visitors who had a clear size advantage and started the game on the front foot pinning Dronfield into our own 22 for the best part of 10 minutes. With determined defence Dronfield withheld Rotherham’s initial pressure until the first score. A few puffed out cheeks followed before Dronfield turned the visitors around from the restart scoring two quick fire tries. Earning Rotherham’s respect with some physicality of our own in the tackle and breakdown, getting a foothold in the scrum and utilising our pace breaking their defensive line, Dronfield stretched into the lead and took control of the game in the second half. Other than a couple of individual tries by Rotherham it was another fantastic performance by our lads against another physically imposing opponent.
