A bruising encounter away to a much improved and physically huge Ilkeston for our U13’s this morning. Following our unbeaten start to the season Dronfield played without key forwards and utilised the squad to experiment and give experience to players in different positions. Ilkeston started fast and physical pinning Dronfield back and scoring 4 tries in the first half. The physicality and athleticism was challenging for the boys in that period, however they didn’t give up and dug deep, making territory into Ilkeston’s half and towards their try line before half time. Pure determination and a desire to compete with our much bigger opponents produced a spirited and competitive second half to the game. Despite the size difference our scrum technique was on point throughout the game and every player showed courage and determination. There were plenty of bumps and knocks however everyone kept competing and refused to give up to the very end. This 25-10 defeat provided great experience and showed once again these boys have hearts of lions. Player of the day went to Ethan for an all round determined display in the tackle and carrying the ball 🏉
