Dronfield U13’s second NLD Cup match away at Matlock once again showed how brilliantly these boys are developing as a team under the guidance of their coaches. Running out 45-20 winners, the team stuck to the coaches battle plan of using our forwards athleticism to punch holes in Matlock’s defensive line. After Dronfield stormed in four unanswered tries in the first 15mins, Matlock came back into the game with three breakaway tries in reply to end the first half. The second half was a different matter though, played mainly in Matlock’s half Dronfield piled on the pressure, out scrummaging a bigger pack by using excellent technique and quick to the ruck to minimise Matlock’s jackling tactic at the breakdown. 5 more tries came to manage the game out in another outstanding performance. Player of the day went to Ben for great captaincy qualities and compliments from the NLD referee
